Sigh Of Relief For Bridges

Bridges marked his 45 minute display by scoring United's goal in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool reserves at Chester City last night, and he could have scored more.

Reserve team boss Steve Agnew said today in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "Bridgey looked in good shape. His movement was good, his hold-up play was good and he was mobile.

"We created a couple of good chances for him and it was nice to see him score.
It was a great finish, so hopefully this is the start for him again now."

Bridges, whose last Premiership goal was against Everton in May 2000, turned out in the pre-season defeat at Hull last month, but was forced to put his comeback on ice on the advice of the club's medical staff.

"Bridgey's trained really hard for the last few months," said Agnew. "He's had a really tough programme, but he's withstood everything and done really well. The plan last night was just for 45 minutes and he felt fine afterwards. There were no problems."
