The Aston Villa boss is already putting together a list of potential summer transfer targets and the coach is keen to recruit young English talent from the Championship. Reports suggest Sherwood has identified several players - with a couple from both Leeds and Ipswich at the top of his wish-list.
Leeds duo Cook, 18, and Byram, 21, along with Ipswich's Teddy Bishop, 18, and Tyrone Mings, 22, are being linked at this stage.
All four players have impressed in the second tier this season but Sherwood could face stiff competition to land them as several other Premier League clubs are also said to be interested.
Left-back or centre-back Mings, in particular, has had scouts from Arsenal and Newcastle watch him and it's claimed they could offer up to £8million to Town in an attempt to win the race for his signature.
Right-back Byram, meanwhile, has attracted plenty of attention and is thought to be worth at least £5m.
Sherwood says he wants young, hungry players at Villa Park and recently insisted players will get their chance if they prove themselves no matter how old they are.
The 46-year-old said: "If you want to play and you want to play in someone's first-team, even at a massive club like Aston Villa, you come to this place because I am going to give you an opportunity - there's no danger of that.
"If you're good enough - no matter how young you are - you're going to play. So why would you waste your time and go anywhere else? Come here!"
