Charles, possibly the greatest player to wear the White shirt, was rushed to hospital last Tuesday for emergency surgery while on holiday but has since had a blood clot removed from his leg and doctors have discovered problems with his liver.
His wife Glenda said: "He comes around but then goes straight back off again, he's not really aware of where he is."
