Ridsdale issues warning to winger

Leeds United chairman Peter Ridsdale has issued a warning to contract rebel Harry Kewell - agree a new contract before Christmas or you will be sold.

The Aussie winger's present deal doesn't expire until 2004 but Ridsdale isn't taking any chances on a Bosman situation developing.

"The club will sit down with Harry before Christmas," said the Leeds chief.

"He will not be allowed to leave on a Bosman transfer.

"I cannot comment on what his plans and ambitions are, but clearly we would have to look closely at his situation if a new long-term contract couldn't be agreed."
