Ricketts Shines In Shay Win

The opening goal came on 25 minutes when Dan Harding played a ball up to Ricketts and he went past Town's Adam Quinn and beat keeper Lee Butler.

Leeds remained unchanged after the break and Simon Walton and Darren Mansaram were involved in a scuffle and booked for their efforts.

Leeds made it 2-0 after 60 minutes with Gavin Rothery heavily involved. The teenager saw his shot closed down by Butler, but it fell for Ricketts who shot into an empty net for his second goal.

Ricketts had a chance for his hat-trick when Nick Gray set him up but the Halifax defence blocked the striker out.

Soon after a mis-kick from the keeper presented him with another chance, and this time he put it wide.

"I have to say Michael Ricketts looked as sharp as I have seen him for a long time," said Kevin Blackwell.

"I thought he was unfortunate with a few chances he had, but it was a great poacher's goal for the first one and he kept his head and showed how to finish with people in front of him for the second one.

"No-one is in, and no-one is out of my plans. I really only have 23 players and then some of the youngsters who played to choose from, so everyone has got a chance," Blackwell added on the club's website.
