The 31-year-old Australian joined Town for a month at the start of January.
He has played once in that time - an FA Cup defeat by Aston Villa - as he continues his recovery from a knee injury suffered 12 months ago.
"Patrick wanted to stay with us, we wanted him to stay so obviously we're pleased it's been agreed," Town boss Mick McCarthy told the club website.
