O'Leary: Nothing To Worry About

Last updated : 26 December 2003 By Kevin Markey

O’Leary said in The Sun: "I am not apprehensive about it at all because I know I will be treated well by the fans.

"I did an FA Cup tie for Sky TV last season at Gillingham and the gantry was right above the Leeds supporters. They were cheering for me so loudly that Richard Keys couldn’t hear what I was saying.

"And when we played Leeds in a pre-season game in Ireland, I had 10,000 Leeds fans chanting my name.

"I don’t have anything to worry about going back there. I had a fantastic relationship with the supporters. It’s not my style to want to go there and stick two fingers up to them. The people that sacked me are not there any more anyway.

"Too much has been said about me and Leeds. I had a great four years there.

"And I always think about that day against Middlesbrough in my last game.

"I never finished out of the top five in four seasons and the fans were delighted we were in the UEFA Cup. I walked around the pitch on my own and had no idea what was coming."
