Old Trafford Or Roots Hall Next Season?

We will be just three games away from a possible Premiership return after meeting Preston this Sunday for the final league Championship game in the regular season.

The Whites have lost just two of their last 17 games, and Kevin Blackwell is demanding more of the same if his side are to realise their dream of a top-flight return.

"We have to keep plodding on and working hard," said Blackwell in the Yorkshire Evening Post. "It's all about hard work and desire now.

"The option is either Southend and Brentford or Old Trafford and Anfield. I know where I want to be going next season and I know where the players want to go as well."

The next time they step out on home territory it will be for a play-off semi-final, possibly against Preston, and United are on course to smash the 30,000 crowd barrier for the first time this season even though their opponents are not yet confirmed.

"The next game at Elland Road is massive," added Blackwell. "If it isn't rocking then I'll be very very shocked. Our fans are the best in the country and they have shown that again these past few weeks."

Blackwell has indicated that he could make wholesale changes for the televised game at Deepdale on Sunday in a bid to rest players and keep his cards close to his chest ahead of a potential play-off meeting.

"It's ironic that we are playing each other on Sunday," concluded Blackwell. "It's a freak really. We could end up playing each other three times in the space of a week.

"We'll sit down later this week, have a look where we are and make a decision then about how we are going to approach it."
