No Protests Planned Over Lennon

A Leeds United Supporters Group spokesman had said: "We aim to make our feelings known because we thought the sales would stop when Ken Bates took over. But nothing has changed."

But Ray Fell, chairman of the Leeds United Supporters Club, commented: "It needs to be pointed out that the planned protests are nothing to do with the Official Supporters Club and whilst there is an air of disappointment that Lennon is going, there are certainly no demonstrations planned.

"It is our view that it is the manager's job to manage the team and the feeling I get is that Ken Bates and everybody at the club is working for the good of the team."

Eric Carlile, secretary of the Supporters Club, added: "People will be disappointed as Lennon is a very good player and the fans had really taken to him. He was the one player who seemed to have a bit of flair.

"But let me say one thing about Ken Bates, he is a football man. He will give Kevin Blackwell all the backing that he needs and I'm sure there are good reasons for this transfer being allowed to happen."
