No Millwall Fans On Opening Day

A statement on the official Leeds United website reads;

'After lengthy discussions there will be no Millwall supporters in attendance at the above fixture in the Coca Cola Championship which will be shown live on Sky TV.

'The South London Club had an option to accept 960 tickets for the game on the basis that those supporters attending the game had to travel to Elland Road on organised coaches so they could be escorted both into and from the Stadium at the end of the game to prevent any potential for disorder.

'This request to travel to the game in this manner was made following the disorder at last season’s fixture and current Police intelligence.

'The travel arrangements would have been identical to those that will apply to Leeds supporters when they travel to Cardiff on the 9th August 2005 and the same as when Cardiff visits Leeds later in the season.

'Millwall came to the decision not to accept the tickets on offer after discussions with their supporters groups who felt the travel restrictions were unnecessary.'
