The club have already lost former assistant boss Gus Poyet to Tottenham earlier in the season and Wise's departure would be another dent to their plans to bounce straight back to the Coca-Cola Championship.

Wise took over as Leeds boss on October 24, 2006 after a protracted negotiation between United and Swindon Town.
