Nigel Chelsea Bound

The England keeper's agent is in talks with Stamford Bridge officials and it is expected that The Blues will look to push through the deal ahead of the Champions League deadline tomorrow for registering squads for the preliminary rounds of the competition.

United have not yet agreed a fee with the Londoners for Martyn, who turns 37 next week, but Chairman John McKenzie confirmed that a deal was close.

It would appear that last Friday's friendly against Hull was to be Nigel's last appearance in a Leeds shirt, having played 273 games for the club since his £2.25m switch from Crystal Palace in January 1996.

Peter Reid revealed last week that Chelsea had been in touch about the Cornishman, and Reid told Martyn he would not stand in his way should he wish to move.

We all at Leeds United MAD wish Nigel the best, whatever decision he makes.
