New Kit Launch A Success

The club superstore sold over 9,000 of the 'Scotland style' shirts on the night, beating the previous best of 7,400, with the store staying open as late as midnight to cope with the demand from a crowd of over 6,000 supporters.

Peter Reid said: "It was just incredible to see so many people there, especially given the situation the club has been in recently.

"It just shows the support the club has got out there, the Leeds fans are just fantastic.

"We simply didn't have enough time to see everyone but I would love to do it again for those people who missed out in the near future."

David Thomson from Leeds United retail explained that the demand was just unexpected, but a great boost for the club.

"Normally we would have around 2,000 people there for a kit launch, but an incredible 6,000 turned up last night," he said.

"I think the difference is that Peter Reid has brought the fans and the club closer together, and never before have we had so many players at a kit launch.

"We were delighted with the sales and that so many people were able to meet the players, but we are very aware that we need to do something for people that did not get in through in time.

"What we have accepted is that next time we are going to have to do a priority system for people who pre-ordered . We do recognise a lot of people were left disappointed at Elland Road last night and those people that did pre-order will be hearing from us shortly."

The club are looking to hold another event around the next half-term break in late October.
