The duo have been in magnificent form since the start of the new season in League One with their seven combined goals helping the Whites to five consecutive wins, cancelling out the 15 point penalty imposed by the Football League.

Ken Bates is now in talks with the players' representatives about extending their existing deals and this will also help fend off potential interest from clubs in the Championship and Premier League.

Beckford, 23, joined Leeds from non-league Wealdstone 18 months ago and has been loaned out to both Carlisle United and Scunthorpe United. His existing deal expires at the end of next season.

Kandol, 26, cost £200k from Barnet in the New Year transfer window and is under contract until summer 2010.

Wise said: "We are negotiating with Tresor and Jermaine. They both love it here now and they want to stay. They have started the season like a house on fire and they are a good partnership."
