Miserable Day For Leeds Sport

In football Leeds United fell apart in the last 20 minutes at Fulham, first Sean Davis scored on 70 minutes, then it was all wrapped up when Luis Boa Morte scored with just ten minutes left.

The Whites could find no reply and the defeat leaves them firmly at the bottom of the Premiership.

Meanwhile in rugby league, despite leading St Helens 14-12 at half-time, Leeds Rhinos conceded a try straight after the interval when The Saints regained the lead with full-back Wellens scoring out wide.

The gap was then extended to four points with a penalty from Long. Willie Talau then went in to score with a conversion by Long and Saints came out victors 24 -14. It was the end of Leeds Rhinos' Challenge Cup dream.

And finally, in rugby union, Leeds Tykes lost out to Sale Sharks 33 - 20. The Tykes road to a Twickenham final were dashed with a poor first half performance. Dan Scarborough scored their first try with 12 mins to go. But a conversion by Ross gave the Tykes new heart as the gap closed to 12 points.

The Sharks responded almost immediately with a drop goal from Wrigglesworth to add another three points. In the dying minutes Scarborough got his second try, but there was only minutes remaining for Leeds to claw back eight points.

The Sharks got a final try by Mayor to seal victory.

A day to forget in the city of Leeds.
