Two big name omissions are Danny Mills and Nick Barmby, both of who must now have a question mark hanging over their future at the club.
Peter Reid has commented recently that some of the senior players have the wrong attitude, by leaving out these two, it would appear that those remarks could have been aimed at them.
The emergence of Chelsea youngster Glen Johnson could also cost Mills his place in the England squad that is named tomorrow for the friendly game against Croatia next Wednesday, making it a doubly miserable weekend for the full-back.
On a positive note, Aarron Lennon could make his debut after been named as one of the squad, although he may miss out on the day.
