Metropolitan Police Statement

Last updated : 11 May 2009 By Kevin Markey
'Police have today praised the behaviour of the majority of fans who attended The Den on Saturday 9th May. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service and British Transport Police had implemented a pan-London operation in partnership with Millwall football club prior to the play-off match against Leeds United.'

Superintendent Peter Vincent, said: "Over 13,000 fans attended the match on Saturday and the day largely passed off without any major incidents of disorder. Unfortunately, a few individuals had to be dealt with by stewards and police, resulting in four arrests. I would like to take this opportunity to praise not only the police officers and club officials involved in this operation, but also the fans whose behaviour in the main was very reasonable."
