Memorial Service For Legend Charles

Charles' widow Glenda presented a cask containing her husband's ashes to Swansea Council. A statue is also set to be erected at Swansea City's new White Rock Stadium.

Glenda told the official Leeds United site: "When he died, what he wanted to do was to take his ashes to Wales. I have been upset about it because he will be far away from me, but that is where he belongs. He belongs there with his family and friends and he is Welsh. He belongs to the people."

The service celebrated the life of the former Wales, Leeds and Juventus legend who died in February after falling ill.

Leeds caretaker manager Eddie Gray, chairman Gerald Krasner and director Peter Lorimer represented the club at the service in Swansea's Brangwyn Hall.

Welsh racehorse owner Mel Davies is to honour Charles in his own way by naming a two-year-old colt after him.
