McNeill will resume his duties after a six-year break, when he was replaced by Ian Broomfield by the then Leeds manager David O'Leary.

He joined Norwich City as their European scout with four months remaining on his contract at Leeds.

The 73-year-old's most famous find was Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink when he was a non-league player in Holland.

McNeill was assistant manager to John Neal at Chelsea in the early 80s.
