The United skipper missed Thursday night's first-leg 1-0 victory over Hapoel Tel-Aviv at Elland Road as he recovers from a knee operation.
"I'm hoping to be back for the second-leg if not the game at West Ham," Matteo said on Thursday night.
"Things are going ok so I hope I'll be back soon."
