Matteo: My Life Is Leeds

Matteo, 29, declared in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I'm happy to stay here for life.

"My life is Leeds. I love the club and if I can spend the rest of my career here I will. It means so much to me.

"I've made some friends inside and outside the club and everyone has been great since I came from Liverpool. If Leeds offered me whatever to see things out, I would be more than happy to do so."

Matteo's current contract expires in the summer of 2006 and he is set to skipper United against his former club at Anfield on Saturday.

"I don't travel back to Liverpool much now," he stated.

"They were a great club and will always have a place in my heart, but I'm Leeds through and through now. I always enjoy going back to Anfield to play, but I'm a Leeds player and that's my priority."

Matteo's first return to Liverpool was a 2-1 success in the halcyon days of April 2001, but The Whites have failed to beat them at Anfield since, drawing 1-1 in October of the same year and losing 3-1 in Peter Reid's first game in charge last season.
