Kilgallon played the full match in a defensive 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, and was a vital part of the Leeds team that managed to shut out the in form Juan Pablo Angel.

Gray said. "I thought the longer the game went the better the boy got.

"I will be honest with you, I wasn't afraid to put him in there at all. He's a central defender with natural ability and he's quick as people saw today. I don't think he got caught for pace once and that's a good asset to have as a central defender.

"I would not have been worried if it was home or away. If we had been away from home the boy would still have played. It's difficult for him to come in and replace someone like Lucas (Radebe) who is a top class performer.

"I was very pleased with the boy."
