He has been forced to retire from football due to a niggling knee injury, similar to the one which has threatened Lucas Radebe's career.

"The type of injury I picked up is so grave that I've had no alternative but to refrain from continuing with my career. I have big plans up my sleeve regarding my new career path, but I will only make this public at a press conference next week," said the South African born star.

Phil made 26 starts for Leeds, notching 11 goals. He cost £275,000 from Mamoladi Sundowns.

Everyone at LeedsUtd-Mad wishes Phil the best of luck for the future.
