Man U linked with possible £30million Leeds swoop

Arch rivals Manchester United are believed be considering a massive £30million bid for Leeds defender Rio Ferdinand.

With the club needing to break-up the squad because of huge debts and the massive wage bill, Ferguson thinks he could tempt Leeds with a record offer.

The Sunday rags today claim that Leeds are aware of United's intentions and that they have warned them off.

However Ferdinand is believed to have been quoted as saying he is "flattered" by United's interest, although that is not an admission that he would quit the club for Old Trafford.

United are on the look-out for a new central defender and they will naturally look at every option and every world class player. Ferdinand falls into that bracket.
