The former Crystal Palace keeper originally turned down the chance to move back south when he thought Paul Robinson was about to be sold to Aston Villa.

Now Leeds have told him Robinson will again start as first choice and they will not stand in his way if he decides to leave.

Martyn's agent was locked in more talks with Chelsea today and the former England international is poised to confirm a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Cornishman is thought not to be keen on relocating back to the smoke, but with his 37th birthday next week, the lure of a two-year contract could be difficult to resist.

The London club are still to make a formal offer to United but Leeds will not stand in Martyn's way provided their valuation of the goalkeeper is met.
