The United boss admits in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I don't know a lot about Chester, but we'll give them respect and it's a competition we want to do well in.

"I'd much rather be at home. But we'll be looking to progress and it's all about just getting through."

In one of the greatest League Cup upsets, Chester knocked out then reigning First Division champions Leeds winning 3-0 in a fourth-round tie at their former Sealand Road home in front of 19,000 in November 1974.

Former Whites skipper Paul Butler was at Chester last season, but was suspended for a serious breach of club discipline in April and his career at City looks to be over.
