Luckless Leeds Get The Blues

Peter Reid chose to keep quiet after controversy robbed Leeds of at least a point.

Leeds were comfortably in control of their clash with Birmingham, albeit lacking the killer touch up front, before the game dramatically changed in the 75th minute.

Roque Junior, making his home debut, was sent off for a second bookable offence, following up a 5th minute caution for a foul on Christophe Dugarry with a challenge on striker partner Mikael Forssell.

There was no issue about the Brazilian's dismissal, although his tackle appeared to be outside the area, only for referee Dermot Gallagher to point to the penalty spot.

David Dunn's spot kick was superbly saved by goalkeeper Paul Robinson, only for the referee's assistant to claim the England international had moved, forcing a re-take.

On this occasion, Robbie Savage stepped up and made no mistake, although Robinson came close to pulling off a second stunning stop.

Forssell then made it three goals in two games since arriving on a season long loan from Chelsea with a superb 85th minute strike as City, at that stage, took advantage of a downhearted Leeds.

Reid felt it wise not to condemn the officials.

"I am not going to comment on them because they have a difficult job to do," said Reid.

"They make decisions and I cannot change them, but if I said what I thought I would be in trouble.

"It's no use brow beating them, they have made their decisions and we've got to get on with it.

"But it's always difficult because the more managers comment on these things, the more pressure the officials are put under and I would rather keep my feelings to myself."
