Lorimer: It's Not Reid's Fault

Leeds have now conceded 10 goals in their last three league games without scoring in reply, leaving them in the bottom three of the Premiership.

On the latest Goodison Park humiliation, coming on top of defeats to Birmingham and Leicester, not to mention a lacklustre display against Second Division Swindon, Reid has been puzzled by his players lack of determination, passion, desire and commitment . All the attributes he had when he was a player.

Leeds legend Lorimer, however, feels making Reid any kind of scapegoat "would be unfair," and added: "It's not his fault.

"You cannot blame Peter Reid because the situation he inherited was very grim and he's had to bob and weave and bring in all these loan players, basically take what's available.

"Sometimes with these players it either works out or it doesn't, but he is going to have to sort it out, and as quickly as possible.

"Obviously, he would have loved to have brought two or three players in over the summer on contracts, but with the way Leeds' finances are, he has not been able to do that.

"After doing a good job at the end of last season, he then went through the summer not knowing who would be at the club.

"It was always a case of who was going rather than who was going to come in, and he had to wait to see who went before he could then sign anybody."
