Leeds United confirm sacking of Jesse Marsch

Leeds United have released a statement confirming the sacking of Jesse Marsch following a disastrous run of form in the Premier League.

The club had gone without a win in any of their last seven games in the league - a run which had led to them plummeting to 17th in the table, just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.

A statement on the news from the club's official website reads: "Leeds United can confirm head coach Jesse Marsch has been relieved of his duties.

"Jesse joined the club in February 2022 and was instrumental in keeping the club in the Premier League on the final day of last season.

"Rene Maric, Cameron Toshack and Pierre Barrieu will also leave the club.

"We would like to thank Jesse and his backroom staff for their efforts and wish them well for the future.

"The process of appointing a new head coach is underway and we will continue to keep supporters up to date throughout the coming days."

90min understands the frontrunner for the vacant managerial position at Elland Road is current West Brom boss Carlos Corberan. Victor Orta is said to be a keen admirer of Corberan's work.
