Leeds To Go French Again

The French Ligue 1 club are willing to let 25-year-old Sakho leave after strengthening their squad in the summer by signing young Ajax forward Mido.

Sakho has been placed on the transfer list by Marseille boss Alain Perrin and is looking for a move away from Stade Velodrome. He has been with the French club for 18 months but is struggling to keep his place in the first-team squad and has, according to newspaper L'Equipe, been given permission to go on trial at Leeds.

If he impresses Reid, the Senegal-born player could become Leeds' third French signing of the summer, following Zoumana Camara and Didier Domi and he may even figure on the tour in Ireland.

Marseille have confirmed Sakho's availability and admitted earlier in the summer that an English club, who they did not name, were interested. They are even willing to pay part of his wages in a loan move.

Sounds the ideal signing for us financially!

After losing Harry Kewell this summer to Liverpool, and with Mark Viduka apparently unsettled, Reid is keen to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Bastia are also interested in signing Sakho, who scored five goals in 29 appearances for Marseille last season. Bastia coach Gerard Gili rates him very highly.

Leeds were set to leave for their pre-season tour of Ireland this morning.
