Leeds Reserves 1 Man City Reserves 1

On only his second reserve game since his move from Swiss club Neuchatel Xamax, the Aussie international impresssed alongside another newcomer, Jermaine Beckford, making his reserves debut.

Eirik Bakke, Frazer Richardson and Griffiths completed their first full games for some time in an entertaining reserve match against Manchester City, which Leeds dominated and deserved better than a 1-1 draw.

New-boy Beckford follow up his 13-minute cameo against Crystal Palace with an encouraging hour-long display.

This was only the second reserve game the Whites have played in six weeks due to bad recent weather and Beckford had an early opportunity to shine when Richardson crossed but the ref whistled for a push on defender Matt Mills.

The former Wealdstone striker then found himself faced with just the keeper to beat but in trying to lift the ball over Nicky Weaver, he hit it high over the crossbar instead.

Leeds had the ball in the net on 26 minutes when Beckford rolled the ball home from close range, but the linesman flagged for offside much to City's relief, this coming after the Blues had had a spell of decent pressure.

Then on 30 minutes he struck a low drive that just went the other side of the post as he looked to get his first United goal.

He then set up Eirik Bakke, with a deft flick, for a shot inside the City area, but Weaver blocked the attempt with his body.

Danny Pugh should have hit the target just before the break but squandered another opportunity.

Beckford was taken off after an impressive hour or so as he was replaced by Tomi Ameobi. Had he done enough for another first team outing this Saturday against Stoke City?

City took the lead on 69 minutes when a poor clearance from Whites keeper Ben Smith went straight to Ashley Grimes and the forward placed his shot into the corner.

But two minutes later Leeds were level as Griffiths drove over Weaver's head into the top left hand corner of the goal.

On 74 minutes City were lucky when Griffiths miskicked from only a couple of yards with only Weaver to beat.

D'Laryea's last ditch tackle denied Ameobi in the box in stoppage time as the game drifted to a stalemate.

For City, Ishmael Miller stood out and was in good form for them.
