Leeds Reserves 1 Hartlepool Reserves 2

A 30-yard shot from David Foley gave Pools reserves a victory at Leeds United last night.

Leeds fielded a strong line-up with David Prutton, Paul Huntington, Ludomir Michalik, Ben Parker, Robert Snodgrass, Enoch Showunmi and Bradley Johnson all starting.

Attacking midfielder Jacques Maghoma, on trial from Spurs, also started for Neil Thompson's side.

Maghoma showed one or two nice touches and Johnson and Showunmi both showed some neat football in the second period.

The away team took an early lead when Matty Robson's cross from the left was deflected into his own net by defender Huntington.

Leeds pulled one back just before half-time when Johnson's 25-yarder deflected off Ben Clark into the bottom corner.

Just as the game looked to be heading for a draw, Foley picked up the ball 30 yards out and unleashed a shot which flew into the top corner.

Ex-Middlesbrough youngster Lewis Smith was handed a second trial game with Pools at the heart of the defence.

Leeds nearly equalised at the death but Mark Cook made a brilliant reaction save to Showunmi's point-blank header from Prutton's inch-perfect cross, with Johnson unable to convert the rebound.
