The Midlanders included former Arsenal keeper Stuart Taylor in goal with Ulises De la Cruz, Mark Delaney, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gavin McCann also in their starting line-up and they were ahead after only 8 minutes when Gabriel Agbonlahor beat trialist keeper Ben Smith in the Whites goal.

But it looked promising for Leeds when, before the goal, Kevin Smith shot from the edge of the area, but straight at Taylor, five minutes into the game.

Smith had another shot deflected and Villa defender Delaney played Taylor into trouble with a poor backpass that was nearly charged down.

But substitute Craig Gardner made it 2-0 in the 2nd half giving Smith no chance, crashing a 20-yarder into the top left hand corner and Agbonlahor wrapped it up with a third.

The Whites only had Danny Pugh, Stephen Crainey and Simon Walton with any first team experience and Pugh and Nick Gray went close to scoring but Villa eased to a comfortable victory.
