Leeds May Scrap South Leeds Stadium

The Whites had to move the reserve team fixture with West Bromwich Albion to Elland Road last week due to the sub-standard nature of the South Leeds Stadium pitch, the fourth time they have been forced into last-minute re-arrangements.

Leeds have played just twice at the stadium this year and the decision to bring reserve team football back to the city, United previously used Wakefield and York for the staging of games, is proving costly.

Chief executive Shaun Harvey said in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "As a result of the bad weather the pitch at South Leeds has suffered and in our opinion it's current state is not up the standards required by the FA Premier Reserve League.

"In view of the issues, the club will have to consider finding the best venue available to it for hosting reserve team games bearing in mind that the region does not support a club at Conference level with appropriate facilities."
