Leeds were seeded in Pot Three for the draw, and drew Málaga, with the first leg being in southern Spain.
Málaga CF overcame a one-goal deficit and a determined KS Amica Wronki side to record a 4-2 aggregate success to claim their place in the UEFA Cup third round for the first time in their history.
Third-round matches in the UEFA Cup will be played on 28th November and 12th December 2002.
