Leeds Deny Strachan Talks

A senior Leeds official told the Sunday Mirror: "It is absolute garbage to suggest Leeds have met and held discussions with Gordon Strachan with a view to him taking over as manager.

"Some of the stories that have been written defy belief and are way off the mark. We are not about to get in a spat with Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe who seems to have plenty to say for himself.

"The situation at Elland Road is simple, Eddie Gray has taken over as the caretaker-manager for at least three months and may continue beyond that period.

"We have not met or discussed the position with any manager in or out of work. At the moment there are other pressing matters to deal with at the club. We do not envisage anything happening this side of Christmas."
