Leeds got back on track after their embarrassing midweek defeat by Blackpool as Adam Clayton's superb strike clinched a 1-0 win at managerless Leicester on Sunday.
Simon Grayson's team conceded five at home for just the second time in their history against Blackpool, but Clayton's 25-yard curler in the 69th minute saw off Leicester and went some way to erasing that painful memory.
Leicester's Thai owners hope to appoint Hull manager Nigel Pearson as a replacement for the sacked Sven Goran Eriksson by the time the Foxes next play after the international break.
But whoever takes over has plenty of work to do judging by this woeful display.
Leeds goalkeeper Paul Rachubka, whose three mistakes against Blackpool saw him taken off at half-time, was dropped as Grayson gave a debut to loan signing Alex McCarthy and the new man never had a serious save to make in the entire 90 minutes.
Elsewhere, Gordon Greer and Ryan Harley fired Brighton to their first league victory in 10 attempts as Barnsley were beaten 2-0 at the Amex Stadium.
Seagulls captain Greer grabbed his first goal for the club moments before half-time and winger Harley struck in the 57th minute to ensure Gus Poyet's side got back to winning ways.
Noel Hunt came off the bench to score the winner as Reading beat Birmingham 1-0 at the Madejski Stadium.
Hunt was only on the pitch for a matter of seconds when he beat Blues keeper Boaz Myhill with a close-range effort in the 75th minute to condemn the visitors to their first defeat since September 18.
