Wilf Copping (1929-34 & 1939-42) 183 apps, 4 goals
One of the pre-war greats, Copping was the original Iron Man at a club who have long prided themselves on an ability to go in hard. "The first man in a tackle never gets hurt," was his mantra. Unlike the mollycoddled megastars of today, Copping juggled half-back duties with Leeds, Arsenal and England with serving as a sergeant-major in North Africa. Things were a bit different then.
