The club confirmed on their official website that they have not had an estimated £6million offer from United for the Australian international striker.
"Kewell and his agent are currently in discussion with Leeds United over a new contract," says the Leeds official website.
"He looks set to extend what has already been a seven year stay at Leeds for what could be another five seasons."
Kewell has 12 months left on his present contract and the club have begun initial talks to keep him at Elland Road.
