Job Cuts Affect Security

The loss of the two full-time security guards has left remaining staff worried about their livelihoods.

The guards covered two daily shifts at the Thorp Arch training site which includes playing fields, an indoor astro-pitch, a swimming pool, sports hall, two gyms, canteen, offices and countless changing areas.

The club said it may now look at "outsourcing" security at the training ground. A spokeswoman added that "security at Thorp Arch and Elland Road would not be compromised in any way and cover will be maintained."

The club says it is "currently undertaking a review of its staff structure following relegation from the Premier League" and "believes that further restructuring is needed in order to maintain and enhance a competitive position in the Coca Cola Championship."
