Jamal The Man For Leeds

Leeds United and Chelsea have reached a deal for the season-long loan of Blues goalkeeper Jamal Blackman to Elland Road.

Blackman, 24, spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, playing 33 times as the Blades finished 10th.

Highly-rated at Stamford Bridge, Blackman’s first-team chances appear limited with Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero ahead of him in the pecking order, while the Blues have also expressed interest in signing Alisson, the Roma glovesman, this summer.

Chelsea were willing to let him go out on loan again for 2018/19, and, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds have won the race for his signature.

It is stated that Leeds have ‘reached a deal’ to sign Blackman on a season-long loan, with a medical planned to try and get the keeper in before the Whites’ first pre-season friendly against Forest Green Rovers, which is scheduled for Tuesday, 17th July.

Blackman will become the second signing of Marcelo Bielsa’s reign as Leeds manager, following Chelsea team-mate Lewis Baker on loan to Elland Road.
