It's A Mad, Mad World At Elland Road

Danny Mills returned from Middlesbrough after his season-long loan and was immediately in talks about a move away from Leeds. On a free transfer.

The England full-back, who missed out on Euro 2004 today, is already understood to have held discussions with Birmingham City about a summer move, while Manchester City and Tottenham are also interested, according to the YEP. Mills has four years remaining on a contract understood to be worth £2m a year.

Mills and Michael Bridges, who has been on loan with Newcastle and is being released by Leeds this summer, are both back on the Elland Road pay roll as from today, but the club are still paying for their own loan rangers.

A UEFA ruling dictates that Salomon Olembe, Lamine Sakho, Zoumana Camara, Didier Domi and Cyril Chapuis, who is on loan at Strasbourg, are contracted to United until June 30 and the club is responsible for their wages. Amazing !

Our best loanee, Jermaine Pennant, has now returned to Arsenal after making his farewell appearance for The Whites as a substitute at Chelsea on Saturday.
