Interview With An Away Fan: Brentford

Last updated : 05 February 2015 By Thomas Hill

5th in the table at the minute, how far can you go this season?

I am really impressed with how we've adapted to the Championship.Teams don't like to play Brentford which a real compliment to Mark Warburton and the players. Id like to to think we could stay in the top six. We have one the worst records in Football League play offs so it would be quite something to break that spell and get into the Premier League at the first attempt. Realistically I'd take a mid table finish.

Which of your players do we need to look out for and why?

Andre Gray has found his shooting boots after a slow start. He is strong, quick and can play out wide or through the middle.
Jota is probably our most technically gifted player. He has a superb left foot and has scored some excellent long range goals already.
Jonathan Douglas, well known at Leeds of course is very useful in central midfield.

What system will you be playing for the game?

We normally play with four at the back, two holding midfielders with three attacking midfielders playing behind Andre Gray. The system allows Pritchard on loan from Spurs to be the creative one in the middle with Jota cutting in on the right and Dallas cutting in on the left.

If you could sign any Leeds player who would it be?

Mirco Antenucci. Good on the ball and can score a goal.

What do you think our strengths and weaknesses are?

Leeds have had patchy form this season. No wins in December and then unbeaten in January. There are some experienced players like Antenucci and Sharp combining well with young players like Byram and Mowatt. I think Leeds have been short of goals all season. At the same time defensively they've looked quite solid.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

We play an attacking passing style which teams find difficult to break down. We have some quick and creative players. Our weaknesses are probably off the ball and in defence. We have been guilty of conceding some poor goals as our defenders learn the division. Saying that our keeper David Button has really improved this season.

Three to get promoted, and three to go down?

Derby, Middlesbrough, Ispwich to go up
Blackpool, Wigan and Charlton to go down.

First goalscorer today?

I think Gray is always a good shout, particularly away from home on the counter attack.

And the result?

Bees sneak it 1-2!
