Healy Off

United will cash in on the Northern Ireland international, who has 12 months left on his contract, even though he has not asked to move.

A number of clubs, including Fulham, Watford and Sunderland, are reportedly interested in Healy, who moved from Preston in 2004 and was top scorer with 10 goals last season.

The striker was revealed today as one of four United players who rejected a wage deferral proposed by KPMG, but Ken Bates insisted he would understand Healy's motives for seeking a move away from Leeds and, more particularly, from League One.

Healy is the leading scorer in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and Bates concedes that the combination is no longer compatible.

"I feel disappointed for David and I've always had a bit of sympathy for him," he said in the YEP. "He scores a lot of goals for Northern Ireland and he does it consistently. We can hardly expect him to perform at such a high level one week and then return to League One the next."
