Hartson Heading To Leeds?

The Sun is reporting that West Bromich Albion flop John Hartson is all set to be Dennis Wise's first signing in the aftermath of the January transfer window.

The red-top claims that the former Wimbledon hitman will sign for United when the loan market re-opens for Football League clubs on Wednesday, with the usually prudent Elland Road chief Ken Bates ready to match his £15k p/w deal - as well as an extra £2k per goal.

Hartson made a big name for himself during his time in Scotland where he scored 88 goals in 146 games for Glasgow Celtic.

However, the burly forward has been frozen out of the first team under Tony Mowbray, with the ex-Hibernian boss deciding Hartson doesn't fit in with his trademark fast-flowing football ethos.

With Richard Cresswell still just short of match fitness and Tore Andre Flo out long-term, Wise would relish having a new target-man option.
