Grayson Keen To Tie Up Johnson

Johnson, out of contract in the summer, was expected to leave the club in January after turning down a final offer of a new three-year deal in November and was subsequently linked with moves to Wigan, Stoke and Bolton.

But the London-born 24-year-old has continued to improve, playing a key role this season for Grayson, who is hoping to keep hold of the talented left-footer.

Grayson said: "We will sit down with him and his representatives after the weekend and see where we are. He got offered a contract at Christmas time, which he turned down and players are entitled to do that because of the Bosman rule.

"We will see where are, but if he leaves and other players leave in the same way, we will thank them for what they have done for the club and we will move on.

"I'd like to keep him. He's done well and can get better. He knows what he needs to do, but we are working within a budget in this club."
