The Whites face the threat of being barred from taking their place in the division after the club's administrators KPMG agreed to sell the business to Ken Bates on July 11.

The Football League had warned KPMG it would not allow Leeds to start life in League One if they were sold without a CVA in place, and that uncertainty continues hang over Elland Road.

League officials convened at the end of last week to discuss Leeds' predicament, breaking the deadlock which saw players eaguelgo unpaid by inviting senior officials of United and KPMG.

Meetings are currently taking place with the transfer of the share the main topic of discussion, but as yet a resolution has not been reached.

A statement issued by Leeds read: "Discussions are ongoing between senior representatives of the club and the Football League surrounding the transfer of the share. We will endeavour to keep fans updated as and when there is any further information."
