The Whites boss watched his side make it two wins out of two in pre-season with a 3-1 victory over a Slovenian team including players from the country’s second and third divisions last night and he was pleased with the work out.
After scoring in the first pre-season game against Farsley last Saturday new strikers Matt Smith, Noel Hunt were on target again with young forward Dominic Poleon also netting for a second successive game to secure a 3-1 victory.
United fielded two different starting teams in each half and was delighted with the way it went.
He said: “They trained really, really hard the day before. We would never do anything like that before a league game.
“It went exactly the way I thought it was going to go. It was very difficult conditions, but the reason we’re here is for fitness.
“We passed it well and scored some good goals so I was pleased.
“We had a lot of the ball in the first half and we’re trying to play a certain way. We’re adapting to that and I think you can see it.”
