Fowler to City resurfaces

Despite the £7million deal seeming dead a week ago due to Fowler's excessive wage demands, Venables confirmed that City have attempted to revive the deal this week.

It is no secret that the Leeds boss needs to sell players before being able to bring new ones in and when asked about the current transfer window, Venables said: "The curtains are still up.

"At the moment nothing has happened. There's a lot of huffing and puffing but nothing more.

"I think it's fair to say I still need to bring money in, although there's no sign of that happening at the moment.

"People will be thinking about Robbie Fowler and earlier in the week it looked as if something could happen. But it took a dive, although it raised its head again on Friday.

"But, as of now nothing has happened, so he will be with us on Saturday and we'll see. But this is the second time it's come up and it will either go away or come to something. But I don't want to discuss it ahead of the game."
