Fowler gone - Woodgate going?

Fowler signed for Kevin Keegans side for a cut-price £3million, with the fee rising to £6million dependent on first-team appearances - that means a substantial loss to Leeds who signed the striker for £11million from Liverpool less than 14 months ago.

Newcastle's bid for England defender Woodgate is understood to be in the region of £10million - an absolute snip when you consider Rio Ferdinand went to Man Utd for £30 million.

Woodgate’s departure could lead to the departure of manager Terry Venables, who has hinted that he would have to consider his future if Woodgate was allowed to leave - the Leeds boss believed that the sales of Fowler, Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Keane, Olivier Dacourt and Lee Bowyer would be enough to ease Leeds financial crisis.
